BIOGRAPHY - PROFESSOR DAVID DAVID AC

"MY LIFE'S WORK HAS BEEN DEDICATED TO ESTABLISHING MULTIDISCIPLINARY SYSTEMS OF CARE WITH THE AIM OF TREATING AND RESTORING THOSE SUFFERING FROM CRANIOFACIAL DEFORMITIES AND INJURIES"

 Professor David graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery from Adelaide University in 1966. He continued postgraduate studies in the UK specialising in Craniofacial Surgery at a time when this speciality was in its infancy. Together with other pioneers in this field, he helped to establish the speciality of Craniofacial surgery and the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery. 
 
Since then, based back in Adelaide, Professor David established the world renouned Australian Craniofacial Unit at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and the Women's and Children's Hospital. He has worked to establish and expand Craniofacial healthcare networks throughout Australasia and Asia.


Professor David has been instrumental in establishing Craniofacial surgery as a discipline in its own right and changing the negative perception often held of individuals with craniofacial deformities therefore, changing faces /changing lives.

With the assistance of Apex Australia and other supporters, Professor David established the Australian Craniomaxillofacial Foundation (Craniofacial Australia) in the 1970s.

He is the founding and current President. The Foundation's role is to promote teaching, research and patient care throughout Australia and globally.

It's aim is to provide support and information to the wider community.


PUBLICATIONS

Professor David is the co-author of 5 books, multiple book chapters and over 250 peer-reviewed publications on Craniofacial conditions.

He currently provides peer reviews for several Craniofacial journals.
